4.0.1 Latest September 2026

Make a face. Ask the room.

Faces
  • Twenty-four live effects in the camera — warp your face, go thermal or X-ray, sprout hearts overhead. Open the camera and tap the masks icon to pick from the grid: nine per page, three pages, with Normal in the middle to get back.
  • What you see is what you get — the effect in the viewfinder is the effect that lands in the photo and in the recorded video. Nothing to apply afterwards.
  • The ones that follow you — hearts, bug eyes and the rest track your face as you move, rather than sitting in the middle of the picture.
Polls
  • Ask everyone at once — polls live in chats and in thoughts. In a chat, tap + and choose Poll, write your question and at least two options. Results fill in live as people vote.
  • You decide how it runs — single choice or multi-select; votes public, private to you, or fully anonymous; and you can set a poll to close on its own.
3.2.5 September 2026

A tidier editor.

The editor
  • The tools are organised now — the long strip of icons down the right side has become a few labelled groups: Add, Look and Frame, plus Clip for videos and Deck for multi-photo posts. Tap one and its tools fan out, each with its name, so you are not guessing what an icon does.
  • Focus and Memories stay put — both are still one tap away at the top and bottom of the column.
The feed
  • Ads vary again — the feed had started repeating the same one or two ads and leaving longer stretches between them. It now pulls a fresh set, so you see different ads at the usual spacing.
3.2.4 September 2026

Your post, your shape.

Posting
  • Pick the shape of your post — a new shape button in the editor tools, just under On This Day, offers 9:16, 3:4, 4:5, 1:1, 5:4, 4:3 and 16:9. Tap one and the canvas takes that shape, and that is the shape your post publishes at.
  • 9:16 is still the default — and it still uses the whole screen exactly as before. Nothing about your posts changes unless you choose a different shape.
  • Choose the shape first — once you have added text, stickers, a filter or a crop, the shape locks, so nothing you placed ever has to move.
  • Videos too — a landscape video posted at 16:9 comes out 16:9 and sharp, instead of being squeezed into a tall frame.
  • What you see is what you post — the preview after you tap Next now shows the exact shape you chose, rather than stretching it back over the whole screen.
The feed and fullscreen
  • Cards take the post’s shape — a square post is square in the feed and a landscape one is landscape. Every post already out there looks exactly as it did.
  • Fullscreen shows the whole post — open a square or landscape post and it sits centered with black bars above and below, instead of being cropped to fill the screen.
3.2.3 August 2026

Photos load faster and the feed stops leaving holes.

Photos and videos
  • Circle photos and videos load faster — they now come straight from our delivery network. Before, every one of them quietly failed there first and had to be fetched a second time from storage, so you waited twice for the same picture.
  • Less waiting on a slow connection — that wasted first attempt is gone, which shows up most on mobile data and when scrolling quickly.
The feed
  • No more mystery gap between posts — when an ad had nothing to show, it left an unexplained space behind. Now the feed closes up as if the slot was never there.
  • Fewer ad slots when there is little to show — rather than reserving space every couple of posts and leaving most of it empty, the spacing widens on its own until there is real variety to fill it.
  • More variety in the ads you do see — the same one repeating over and over was partly our own doing, and the rules that caused it have been relaxed.
Fixes
  • Recently active people show up again — a search on Explore was looking at the wrong record and quietly returned nobody.
3.2.2 August 2026

The blue badge is something you earn now.

FOMO Verified
  • Invite 5 friends, get the blue badge — verification is no longer a form you fill in and wait on. Bring five people to fomo and the badge is yours automatically, the moment the fifth invite goes out. No ID photos, no review queue, no waiting.
  • You can see how close you are — a progress bar sits on the invite page and in Settings, filling in as each friend is invited. The fifth one is worth showing up for.
  • Only unique people count — texting the same number twice counts once.
Inviting people
  • A proper invite page — your contacts with their photos, so you recognise people at a glance instead of reading down a list of names.
  • One tap sends — tap a friend and their message opens already written and already addressed. Hit send and you’re straight back to the list, with a check next to whoever you just invited.
  • Search by name or number — find one person in a list of hundreds without scrolling.
  • Friends with more than one number — tap them and pick which number to text.
  • Everyone gets their own message — no group thread full of people who don’t know each other.
  • One link that works everywhere — your invite now sends iPhone friends to the App Store and Android friends to Google Play, automatically. Before, an invite could land your friend on a store page they couldn’t install from.
  • Invite from anywhere — there’s a person icon at the top left of Explore that opens the invite page any time.
  • Your contacts stay on your phone — fomo never uploads them. Only the friends you choose get a text, and it comes from you.
Fixes
  • The first invite after opening the app remembers who you picked — it used to open an empty message the first time and only work from the second try on.
  • Your badge shows up straight away — the profile no longer waits for a refresh to notice you’ve been verified.
  • The celebration only happens once — it was congratulating you again on every invite after the fifth.
3.1.11 August 2026

Fewer empty gaps, more say over your ads.

Ads
  • No more placeholders that never fill — the app was keeping only one ad on hand at a time, so most ad spots sat shimmering and then gave up. It now holds a proper set, and spots fill the way they were meant to.
  • Better variety — when only one brand is available, the app spaces its ads further apart instead of going silent, and it still refuses to put the same brand twice in a row.
  • Cleaner ads — ads rated for mature audiences are now excluded entirely. What shows up in your feed is held to the same standard as the feed itself.
Privacy
  • Change your mind about ad tracking — Settings now has Ad Privacy Settings, where you can revisit or withdraw the ad consent you gave. It appears wherever that choice applies to you.
  • Nothing is requested before you answer — if you haven’t agreed to personalised ads, the app no longer asks for any on your behalf.
3.1.10 August 2026

Ads, rebuilt from the ground up.

Ads
  • Ads load like posts now — every ad has a fixed spot in the feed, held by a shimmering placeholder that fills in right where it sits as you scroll. Nothing shifts, nothing shuffles, ever.
  • They don’t run out — ads keep appearing no matter how far you scroll, and scrolling back up never makes them vanish. If there’s nothing to show yet, the app keeps quietly trying until there is.
  • No repeats next to each other — the same ad can’t appear twice nearby. Brands rotate through the feed the way you’d expect.
  • Every ad is the same size — ad cards share one fixed shape, so the feed never jumps when one arrives.
Reporting
  • Reporting an ad removes it — report an ad or ask to see less like it, and it disappears on the spot.
3.1.4 August 2026

Ads, back on their feet.

Ads
  • Hide an ad without losing them all — hiding an ad now hides that ad and its advertiser, not every ad that happens to share a headline. If hiding ads ever left you with none at all, this brings them back.
  • Pull to refresh keeps your ads — the ones on screen stay until their replacements actually arrive, instead of vanishing.
  • The app now recovers after a network hiccup instead of giving up on ads for the rest of the session.
Settings
  • Reset all ad blocks — Blocked Ads in Settings gains a real reset: every hidden ad is allowed again, on your device and your account.
3.1.3 August 2026

Swipe it. Tap it. Land on it.

Circles
  • Circles swipe again — swiping between your circles snapped straight back to the one you started on. The cards up top and the grid below both move properly now.
Profiles
  • The whole post, from a profile — a post mixing photos and videos opened from someone's profile showed the wrong count and refused to scroll. Every item opens now.
Notifications
  • Notifications open ready — tapping a post notification used to drop you on a blank, still-loading screen. The photo now downloads as the notification arrives, so it's waiting when you land.
3.1.2 August 2026

What's shared here stays here.

Privacy
  • Screenshots come out black — people are here because it's private. Captures of your posts, fliks, chats and profile now save as a black image.
  • You're told when someone tries. Settings → Notifications → Screenshots lists every attempt.
Photos
  • Android photos are back — photos posted from Samsung and other Android phones were showing up as blank grey pages. They load properly now.
  • Right way up — some photos came through rotated a quarter turn. They now appear exactly as they were taken.
  • The whole set, every time — in a post with several photos, the ones after the first couple could stay blank. Every photo loads now.
3.1.1 August 2026

Scroll harder. Post easier.

Chats
  • Scroll like you mean it — photo-heavy chats used to give out and close the app. Now they keep up, however fast you flick.
  • Easier on the eyes — buttons and the message bar stay sharp on light chat backgrounds instead of muddying out.
  • The attachment menu matches, so GIF, Sticker, Audio Memo, Photo and Camera stay readable too.
Posting
  • Uploads found their seat — your progress now waits in the exact spot the post will land, and scrolls with the feed instead of hanging at the top.
  • Second thoughts, handled — shared it a beat too early? Cancel an upload while it's still in the air.
  • Bulk uploads no longer freeze the screen while photos are being prepared.
Everywhere
  • Quicker comebacks — swipe the app away all you like. Everything saves before it goes, so the next open picks up where you left off.
  • What's New got simpler, and you can skip it whenever you want.
3.1.0 August 2026

What you share stays in your circles.

Screenshots
  • Screenshots come out blank — try to capture anything in fomo and you get an empty frame. Screen recordings too.
  • You'll know when someone tries — if a person captures your post, flik, chat or profile, we tell you.
  • Anyone who takes a screenshot sees why it didn't work, and where to find the save button if the owner allows saving.
Settings
  • Screenshot Activity — a new list under Privacy showing who captured your content, and when.
  • Screenshot Alerts can be turned off any time in Privacy if you'd rather not be told.
3.0.9 August 2026

Your edits post the way you made them.

Posting
  • Background colors stick — pick a color behind your video and it's there in the post, not the old default black.
  • Save a draft with a custom background and it comes back exactly as you left it.
Captions & Tagging
  • Tap anywhere to put the caption keyboard away — no need to hit the checkmark.
  • Recently Tagged now shows just your last five people, so the list stays short.
Camera
  • On This Day closes on its own when you switch to uploading from your library.
3.0.8 July 2026

Signing in with your phone number works again.

  • Fixed phone sign-in — verification codes weren't being sent for some people. They are now.
  • If verification ever can't complete, you'll see a clear message instead of a technical error.
Also
  • Security and stability improvements behind the scenes.
3.0.7 July 2026

Small fixes and a little polish across chat.

Chat
  • Message drafts — start a message, leave, and it's saved for when you come back. Your chat list shows a "Draft" reminder.
  • Press and hold a photo to react — a tap still opens it full-screen.
  • New messages appear right away, and chats reliably open at the latest message.
  • Smoother typing indicator, and the flik button moved so it's harder to tap by accident.
Fixes
  • Fixed a freeze that could happen while connected to CarPlay.
  • Various small bug fixes and performance improvements.
3.0.6 July 2026

Say it out loud — Audio Memos come to chat, plus a more personal chat and a couple of fixes.

🎙️ Audio Memos
  • Send a voice message — record an audio memo right inside any chat.
  • Hear it back first — listen to your memo and re-record before you send.
  • Save it anywhere — press and hold a memo to save it to your device or share it.
  • Memos play with a live, animated waveform.

  • One palette for everything — the same colors now style your chat background and your bubbles.
  • More fonts to personalize your conversations.
Fixes
  • Fixed a glitch when opening comments on a post.
  • Creating a folder in a Circle no longer freezes the app.

  • Sound is captured from the very first frame.
Chat & Circles
  • Edit a message after you've sent it.
  • Send a flik straight into a circle chat.
  • Chat text and buttons stay readable on light backgrounds.
  • Recently tagged people and tags now sit right at the top.
  • The download button now shows on photos you open from a Circle.
Earlier releases
3.0.4 July 2026

A big round of fixes — cooler, smoother posting, cleaner audio, and a feed that behaves.

  • Sound stops the moment you tap Share — nothing keeps playing through the upload.
  • Fixed a double soundtrack when going from Post Config back to the editor.
A Feed That Behaves
  • Feed videos now rest after a few loops — easier on your battery; they pick right back up when you scroll or tap.
  • No more blank gray ad cards running down the feed.
  • Fixed the bar that flashed at the top of Explore while scrolling.
Changes Reach Everyone, Instantly
  • Turn on downloads for a post and friends see it right away — same for caption edits. No more closing and reopening the app.
Little Things
  • Double-tap to select a word in your caption works again.
  • GIFs now load reliably on weak connections, with a loading spinner instead of a blank box.
  • Pull-to-refresh respects your mute switch.

3.0.2 June 2026

Account & Sign-in

  • Change your phone number — update the number you sign in with; your account, posts, and circles stay exactly the same.
Ad Controls
  • See less like this — hide an ad you don't want and it disappears across feed, grid, and detail right away.
  • Manage everything you've hidden in your Blocked Ads list.
Smoother Explore
  • Grid and post images load faster and scroll smoother, sharing the same cache and CDN as your feed.
3.0.1 June 2026

Notifications
  • Already-seen notifications stay read — notifications you've opened no longer keep showing up as unread.
  • The badge clears properly — opening your notifications now clears the whole backlog, so the app icon count actually reaches zero.
Comments & Reactions
  • Comments stick — a comment you post no longer flickers away for a moment before settling.
  • Pull to refresh, fully — refreshing now brings in new comments and reactions on posts already in your feed, not just new posts.
  • Live updates — new comments and reactions appear on the spot, without needing to pull to refresh.
  • React from anywhere — a reaction you add from your notifications now shows on the feed right away.
